Indoor air quality is essential for people's health and well-being: in developed countries, the population spends 90% of its time indoors. Indoor air may be more polluted than outdoor air because outdoor pollutants, which are trapped and accumulated, are added chemical pollutants typical of homes and biological contaminants generated by man.
For these reasons, FITT, an international pioneering group in the development of innovative technologies and solutions for the passage of fluids for domestic, professional and industrial use, has developed FITT Agix®, the first HRV and air distribution system certified by Kiwa according to the European standard EN 17192:2019.
Recently introduced, the European standard EN 17192 is the first dedicated to non-metallic ducts for ventilation in residential buildings and redesigns the approach to the entire distribution system, requiring numerous tests and evaluations:
- hermetic tightness of the system, which measures the air tightness of the non-metallic ducting unit in accordance with EN ISO 5817:2017;
- pressure loss of the individual components, which measures the pressure drop of the non-metallic ducting unit in accordance with EN ISO 5801:2017;
- thermal conductivity, which determines the thermal resistance of the material in accordance with EN 12667;
- operating temperatures, which defines the operating temperature range for the use of ventilation ducts;
- fire resistance, which determines the reaction to fire in accordance with EN 13501
- resistance to external pressure, which determines the maximum force allowed in accordance with EN 17192;
- antimicrobial resistance, which measures the extent of microbial growth in accordance with ISO 846 and ISO 22196;
- absence of dangerous substances, which determines the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals (REACh), RoHS directives and IPA directives on dangerous substances, according to regulation (CE) n. 1907/2006.
The new European standard EN 17192 covers all the aspects that characterize the ventilation system: from the raw materials used in the production of the components to the conditions of use of the installed HRV system.
